Asus ROG G752 Laptop with GeForce GTX 1070: First Impressions & Review
Asus ROG series has one of the finest gaming laptops to offer to its consumer and Asus ROG G752 follows the same footstep. This beastly gaming laptop is one of the top-of-the-line out there and luckily our team gets a chance to play around with it for some week thanks to the Asus Republic of Gamers India.
The coppery-coloured beast has been refreshed for NVIDIA GeForce GTX1070 which is amazing. GTX1070 is one of the best graphic cards out there for gaming which max out performance and is VR ready. Did it live up to the expectations? or is it just another gaming laptop? Find out in this comprehensive review of Asus ROG G752.
Size and Weight
Asus ROG G752 comes with the dimension 42.8 x 33.4 x 5.3 cm (WxDxH) and has a 17.3-inch display. 17-inch laptops tend to be big but this one’s always been particularly big and it has an optical drive so it’s designed to be more of a desktop replacement than a device that you can carry around regularly.
The laptop weighs around 9.7lbs (around 4.4kg) which is quite heavy. Since it is a gaming laptop and that too with high specification, so it justifies the heaviness. It comes with a bulky charger weighing around 800g. If you are the one who likes to carry their laptop everywhere, this laptop will disappoint you. Again, the device is more like a desktop replacement.
Design and Build quality
In terms of the exterior very little has changed, it’s the same silver colored aluminum top panel, silver colored bottom paneling but there is the big and bold copper accents that make this laptop very unique looking. It’s still not a real copper but a polycarbonate. The overall build quality of this laptop is really good.

The screen hinge, the rear exhaust, the fit and finish of everything is great. There is still some flex on the keyboard but it is a wide 17-inch laptop so it was again expected not a big deal here. The laptop lid features the ROG logo and it is accented by two glowing stripes and a rust-colored hinge. The finish is smooth and premium but is still prone to hairline scratches.
Below the lid, you will see a dust-release vent which looks unique and it keeps the dust away from internal components. You will also see a black colored rubber plugs on each side of the vent. This plug is used to cover the channels so that the dust particle won’t sneak in. You have to remove this plug while using the laptop.
It has the same port selection as before so individual audio jacks, Thunderbolt 3 port, display outputs, Ethernet, four USB threes and an SD slot. The keyboard and trackpad are pretty good. The keyboard has 6 macro keys which you can program to run a specific application via the inbuilt software.
The trackpad is solid and it’s got the physical button and tracking is very nice because it uses Windows drivers. The laptop comes with a backlit keyboard but is limited to red color only. At this price point, RGB backlighting should be there.
Under the hood specifications
The internals are super easy to get to there is one screw and a pull tab to get in there. This unit has 32 gigs of DDR4 RAM @2400 MHz, 1 TB HDD R-135 W-130, and 512GB SSD. There is room for the second SSD which is actually nice. Drive speeds are good. I’m glad that they went with fast SSD at this price point.
The CPU is skylake i7 6820HK which is a bit faster than the super popular 6700HQ. The CPU is unlocked so you can overclock it if you want. I tried it just to see what it could do and the software is pretty easy but I was not able to get it stable thermally. Honestly, the stock one is plenty fast and there is no need for overclocking it.
It has GTX1070 and the performance on this thing is awesome. Running most game at 1080p is super easy on this card. I was able to get 100 frames on almost every game at High graphic settings and in some games at Ultra settings. You will able to play next generations titles will run smoothly on this machine.
Asus ROG G752 has 17.3″ (16:9) LED backlit UHD (3840×2160) Anti-Glare Panel with 100% Adobe with G-Sync. The display panel is really nice with a matte finish, great color accuracy, good contrast and viewing angles.
The screen on this model has G-sync and a refresh rate of 75 Hz so all of the titles will cap at 75 frames per second if you have g-sync enabled. G-sync will reduce visual stuttering and visual tearing.
The screen has pretty little flex and certainly, it is due to the wildness of screen. The bezels are quite big and that is the case with all 17-inch laptops.
Asus ROG G752 comes packed with 8 cell 90 Whrs battery which offers average battery life. We were able to get around 3 hours of battery which is acceptable since it is a gaming laptop. They tend to be bulky and large with average battery life. You can charge the laptop completely in 2 hours which is good. I will suggest you, do gaming while the laptop is plugged in otherwise you will get around 75 mins of battery life.
Asus ROG G752 comes packed with various software preinstalled which is of great help and works very well. The most helpful were the ROG Gaming Center which is a dashboard that gives you information regarding your CPU and GPU and from this software you can also change fan speed and access other utilities too.
There is also one more app called Splendid which is also present in Asus’s smartphones and tablets. The tool lets you play with display colors offering you to enable blue light filter or boost color to make them more vivid. GameFirst IV allows users to prioritize which apps get access to their Wi-Fi networks, and the Sonic Radar overlay shows you where sounds, like gunshots or enemy footsteps, are coming from when you’re playing games. Finally, XSplit Gamecaster makes it easy for you to stream your games to Twitch or other services, and the G752VS comes with an unlimited free recording license for as long as you use the machine.

Conclusion | Asus ROG G752
Asus ROG G752 comes with powerful under the hood specification and its design aesthetics is superb & unique. The laptop was officially priced at $2500 (=1.6 lacs) but is now available at amazon.com for $1899 (=1.2 lacs). For the current price point, the laptop justifies completely and is perfectly priced. The performance showed by the laptop is amazing. I played various latest gaming titles including GTA 5, the division, COD Infinity Warfare and others without facing any issue of lagging, heating or video stuttering.
The graphic card in the laptop will definitely be able to handle all the upcoming gaming titles easily not a tough job for this laptop. The only con which I find is the weight and size. It’s quite heavy and big for carrying around. If size and weight are not the problems for you then you should go for this laptop. The specs are amazing at this price point. The design is something unique and will not bore you in long usage.
Asus ROG G752 is also available in Indian market and can be purchased via the nearest Asus store.
